Effective:  July 1, 2010

Service is a highly valued professional philosophy within the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (DASNR).  Nonexempt employees are actively encouraged to complete the Ambassador Program.  This program has been developed to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff who play a critical, front-line role within a unit.  Successful completion illustrates a desire for continuous learning and improvement and a commitment to service.

This program consists of 30 hours of courses.  The 15 hours of required core courses focus on basic functions of all employees regardless of title.  The 15 hours of specially marked electives are selected by the employee to meet particular job needs and interests.  Ambassador certification requires completion within a two-year time frame. Eligibility Requirements:

• All continuous, regular nonexempt staff within DASNR are eligible.
• Employee must maintain “good/competent” or equivalent level performance. 

Approved Certification:

• OSU Ambassador Program 

Courses leading to certification may be paid for by the department as part of the employee’s training plan.  The appropriate unit head or his/her designee must approve training plans prior to scheduled courses to ensure adequate staffing and budgetary considerations. 

Pay Incentive:

• $150 one-time payment (net)
• Increase will be given within 30 days of program completion verification through OSU Training Services.
• Multiple completions of the Ambassador Program will not result in additional one-time payments.
• All program requirements must be fulfilled before a payment can be granted.
• Payments are subject to appropriate taxes and withholdings, and FLSA guidelines.
